James Andrew Provins Hunter
Montville - James Andrew Provins Hunter, 70, of Simpson Lane, Oakdale, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at his residence.

Mr. Hunter was born on March 21, 1941, in New London, the son of Andrew and Ruth (Spencer) Hunter. He served on the Republican Town Committee, Board of Tax Review, and the Building Code Board of Appeals. He was appointed Justice of the Peace for the Town of East Lyme. He was a member of the Niantic and Flanders Fire Departments and a member of Flanders Baptist Church in East Lyme. He owned and operated Hunter Electric in Niantic for over 45 years.

Mr. Hunter is survived by his longtime partner, Eleanor Maynard, of Oakdale; his two sons, William Hunter of California and Gregory Hunter of Mystic; his daughter, Karen Reyes of Salem; Eleanor's three daughters, Debra Provost, Diane Troniar, and Karen Brovero; his brother, Dan Hunter of Massachusetts; and sister, Lucinda Moran of Griswold; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011, in Flanders Baptist Church, Boston Post Road, East Lyme. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave., Niantic.
