Jon Mahon, an emergency vehicle technician with New England Fire Equipment and Apparatus, degreases the lower midsection of the Niantic Fire Department's 100-foot aerial ladder truck at the station on West Main Street Wednesday. Mahon was doing annual maintenance that includes cleaning, greasing and inspecting the ladder, a process that takes him a day and a half.
